Why I'm stepping up again
I have been uncomfortably settling in to the end of this local election cycle; disappointed again at low turnout but reconciled that this is where we are in Texas. Angry, yes, at the lack of democratic unity and the overwhelming force of Republican $$ crashing in all around us in these mayoral & city council races.
Then I listened to Tim Snyder’s post, especially starting at 16:30, when he encourages positive participation to do something, ANYTHING new, while pushing back at our dismissiveness of others.
So just as I was thinking “OK, maybe there is more I should do” I started getting the calls. The NEBCD needs a new Chair, because Patrick is moving to Dallas.
I have a strong loyalty to the NEBCD, because for years they have supported our efforts in north SA to turn out the blue voters. They always gave us candidates a home with offices, events and a massive merch room. Of course I want to help them help us all succeed in 2026.
So here I am, once more, ready to serve! The vote will be on June 14th. Wish me luck?
