What I do to fight for democracy in Texas
This is my checkbook cover. The other side is filled with the same stickers, just more recent. I made this photo into a postcard.
Now, each morning as I start confronting the horrors that appear in my feeds, I complete the following ritual:
I take 3 of my “I voted” postcards out.
I pull a sticker with Ted Cruz’s address off the Avery labels sheet I printed and paste it on the right side, middle of one postcard.
I pull a sticker with John Cornyn’s address off the sheet and paste it on the right side, middle on a second postcard
I pull a sticker with Chip Roy’s address off the sheet and past it on the right side, middle on the third postcard.
I place a sticker with my name & address that I printed off the sheet at the top left of each postcard.
I choose my message, and write it on each postcard, left side middle. Today, the message is:
“Congress has the authority to set tariffs. Do your job”
I stick a postcard stamp at the top right corner of each card.
I walk to my mailbox, put in the 3 cards, and raise the little red flag.
I return to my house, turn on my hose and water my plants, as I wave at my neighbors on their morning walk.
I smile, and am ready to face the day, full of calls, texts, blockwalks and rallys.
How do you prep to fight for our democracy?
